Incredible New Project

We are so proud to announce (to the few of you who read this blog) a project that eleven72 is part of. It's called The Quench Project. It's the first ever of it's kind. The most popular and successful church video producers in the world have collaborated to create an incredible DVD. We talked with many of our friends in this industry and decided to make a "best of" type DVD for churches. It includes some of the post popular videos ever made for churches from 13 different producers. The value is incredible because if the media was all purchased individually, the cost would be over $700. The final price isn't set, but it will most likely be under $100.

And here's the BEST part! All proceeds go to a company called Living Water International. That's 100% of everything made on this project goes to helping the 1 billion people around the world who don't have ACCESS to clean water. I capitalized access because that's such a crucial word. It's not that they don't have inexpensive clean water, or that it's kinda hard to get to...No access at all. People are literally dying everyday. Water is the most essential part of every humans life. This particular company teaches people how to build wells and then they go and build them. Then they teach the villagers to maintain the well and go back often to make repairs...All in the name of Jesus. It's so fantastic.

So be on the lookout on all our websites for the announcement. The big unveiling will be at the Echo conference in Dallas in August. And thanks so much to our wonderful friends at Floodgate for heading this up, spurring us on and creating the art and DVD itself. They are truly fantastic people.

Fogscreen Takes Projectors Up a Notch

Every once in a while I stumble on a projector type gadget and I am compelled to post about it. Previous posts included a projector small enough to be incorporated into a cellphone and a projector bright enough to blind people from three quarters of a mile (see those posts here).

Now this (quoted from Gizmodo).
The FogScreen is the advertising industry's latest weapon in the fight against peace and quiet. The projector can fill spaces like subway tunnels with floating ads that you can actually walk through. It sprays a very fine mist of dry fog, created from water by an ultrasonic wave, which can then be projected on to just as if it were a hard surface.
Did I mention you can walk through it. Now that is cool. Check it out:

Video Projector as Bright as the Sun :)

Sanyo debuts "world's brightest" PLC-XF47 and PLC-XP100L projectors

Check this projector out. 15,000 lumens. If you get hit by the beam, will you get burned :)? This could definitely overcome those bright ambient environments. It also features wireless HD streaming. Pretty cool. The price tag ($30,000) puts it out of reach for most of us mere mortals, but hopefully this signals brighter and cheaper projectors to come. It would be great to finally have some affordable projectors that are bright enough to work well in the environments that smaller churches have to deal with. High school cafeterias, rooms with big windows, etc.

Here's the review written up by engadget:
Sanyo's got some high claims here, boasting of the "world's highest light output" on its new 15,000 lumen PLC-XF47 projector (pictured), and the "brightest portable LCD projector" in its 6500 lumen PLC-XP100L. Both projectors feature 2000:1 contrast ratios and inputs aplenty. It's not just the lamps getting fancy here, Sanyo has packed wireless HD streaming into its PLC-XF47, which can do uncompressed 720p and 1080i video up to 100 feet away with less than a millisecond of latency. The resolution is a mere 1024 x 768, so super HD cinema is a bit of a non-starter, and the $30k pricetag is always a turnoff, but if you need this kind of muscle behind a projector, we're guessing you'll figure out a way to scrounge up the cash. The PCL-XP100L matches the resolution, but thirds the pricetag, at $10k. The PLC-XF47 will be out in October, preceeded by the PLC-XP100L in September. If all of this is just too much for you, Sanyo also has the PDG-DXT10L coming in September for $7k and featuring 5200 lumens and a 2100:1 contrast ratio.

Video Pocket Projector

TI is demoing a video projector that is so small it can be built into a cell phone! It's 1.5 inches in length and runs on DLP technology. How cool would it be to have your own personal video projector on you at all times? What if you networked a bunch of these little projectors together? Can anyone think of any cool ways technology like this might impact your ministry or is that a stretch? Anyway, I thought this was really interesting and wanted to pass it along.

Here's a blurb from the article I found on CNET:

The projector contains three lasers, a DLP chip and a power supply and measures about 1.5 inches in length. With the projector, the cell phone can beam DVD-quality video onto a screen or a wall, thereby allowing it to serve as a video player or a television. By using the projector, the actual "screen" size can be much larger than what a person would get by using the LCD panel integrated into the phone. The chip inside the phone, in fact, could drive images for a widescreen television.
